Lately most of the focus had been on the client app (FYS-App) with many improvements related to the installation. However, there has been some considerable work done on the backend. FYS-Server 4.12 introduces changes to improve the reliability of the backend, which produces the data used by FYS-App.
With this version, the server can run as a standalone server or using a Cloud base service. Prior versions only ran on a Cloud service. Metrics showed that the Cloud can be unreliable at times given that it does not provide a granular control. As of today, FYS-Server 4.12 is running on both a standalone server and Cloud as redundant services. I will continue to monitor performance and then decide where to host the service. To the end user the server hosting platform should be transparent with no configuration changes on the client side. However, the data produced by the server should be better with this new server version.
